On October 14, 1999, President Faulkner appointed the following committee to prepare a memorial resolution for Barnes F. Lathrop, Professor Emeritus, History: Norman D. Brown, Michael G. Hall, and Lewis L. Gould.

On October 19, 1999, President Faulkner appointed the following committee to prepare a memorial resolution for James L. Kinneavy, Professor, English: Lester L. Faigley, John J. Ruszkiewicz, and Davida H. Charney.

On October 21, 1999, President Faulkner appointed the following committee to prepare a memorial resolution for Royston Murphy Roberts, Professor Emeritus, Chemistry and Biochemistry: Nathan L. Bauld, John C. Gilbert, and William Shive.

Transmitted to the Chancellor by President on January 20, 1999, with these comments: "This legislation was discussed among my office, the office of the Provost, and members of the Faculty Council Executive Committee. It puts into the RegentsÍ Rules what has been the practice at the University of Texas at Austin. Confidential consultation with a faculty committee regarding a possible suspension is guaranteed, but the final determination is made by the President. This process has worked well on our campus. I recommend your favorable consideration of the proposed change."
