IN MEMORIAM
SPURGEON BELL
Spurgeon Bell, professor of business,
was born on June 28, 1880, in Blanco, Texas. He received a bachelor's
degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1902 and a master's
degree from Harvard University in 1915.
Professor Bell taught at Tarleton State
University, and at the Universities of Chicago and Missouri. While at
the University of Chicago, Professor Bell served as assistant editor
for The Economist. He joined the faculty of The University of
Texas at Austin in 1912 and resigned in 1925.
Professor Bell was a member of the American
Association of Collegiate Schools of Business.
