DELMAR GROSS COOKE
Delmar Gross Cooke, professor of English,
was born on July 26, 1888, in Piper City, Illinois. He earned bachelor's,
master's, and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois in 1912,
1915, and 1917, respectively. As a graduate student he was named a scholar
and later a fellow in English.
From 1912 to 1914 Professor Cooke taught
at Champaign High School in Illinois. He joined the faculty of The University
of Texas at Austin in 1918 and resigned in 1945.
