GUSTAVUS W. CUNNINGHAM
Gustavus W. Cunningham, professor of
philosophy, was born on November 14, 1881, in Laurans, South Carolina.
He earned a master's degree from Furman University in 1902 and a PhD
from Cornell University in 1908.
Professor Cunningham taught at Harvard
College and Middlebury College. He joined the faculty of The University
of Texas at Austin in 1917 and taught for ten years.
Dr. Cunningham published four books,
including Thought and Reality in Hegel's System (1910), A
Study in the Philosophy of Bergson (1916), Problems of Philosophy
(1924), and Five Lectures on the Problem of Mind (1925). He also
authored articles and book reviews for the Philosophical Review
and the Texas Review.
