IN MEMORIAM
JESSAMON DAWE
Jessamon Dawe, retired associate professor of management
science and information systems, died on October 17, 1991. She was 84.
Professor Dawe was born on December 19, 1906, in Gonzales,
Texas. She received three degrees from The University of Texas at Austin,
a bachelor's in 1928, a master's in 1941, and a PhD in 1955.
Dr. Dawe taught public school in Gonzales and San Angelo.
She joined the faculty of UT Austin in 1948 and retired in 1969. She
specialized in teaching basic communication and graduate research writing
courses. From 1962 to 1969 she read and edited all master's professional
reports and theses in the College of Business Administration. Her work
was recognized with five awards for teaching excellence.
Professor Dawe was the author of Writing Business
and Economics Papers, Theses, and Dissertations. She coauthored
Functional Business Communication.
Professor Dawe held memberships in the
American Business Writers Association, the National Education Association,
and the Southwest Social Science Association.
