IN MEMORIAM
LONNIE BRYAN EZELL
Lonnie Bryan Ezell, retired assistant professor of educational
administration, died in Austin, Texas, on February 3, 1977.
Professor Ezell was born on March 14, 1897, in Haw River,
North Carolina. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from
Elon College in North Carolina in 1921. He received another master's
degree and his EdD degree from The University of Texas at Austin in
1930 and 1937, respectively.
Dr. Ezell began his university teaching
career at Mercer University in Georgia in 1929. Following several other
teaching and administrative posts in Kansas and Texas, Dr. Ezell joined
the faculty at the University in 1940, where he taught until his retirement
in 1965. His field of interest was high school administration, about
which he published numerous articles in such journals as School and
Society, Journal of Educational Research, Nation's Schools,
and School Executive.
Dr. Ezell served as a member of the United States Navy
in World War I and as a member of the Army Air Corps in World War II.
