IN MEMORIAM
WILLIAM E. FIELD
William E. Field, professor emeritus of nursing, died
on March 15, 1992. He was 58.
Professor Field was born on April 13, 1933, in San Antonio,
Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree in nursing from Texas Christian
University in 1955. He received his master's and PhD degrees from The
University of Texas at Austin in 1960 and 1965, respectively.
Dr. Field served as a Joseph H. Blades
Centennial Memorial Professor and was assistant dean of the School of
Nursing. He was also a licensed and certified psychologist with the
State of Texas. Dr. Field was involved in numerous professional activities
during his tenure at the University. He was a Fellow, American Academy
of Nursing, and served as president of the Texas Nurses Association,
1969-71. He was also a member of the editorial boards of Psychosocial
and Nurse Inquirer.
