IN MEMORIAM
GEORGE VINCENT GENTRY
George Vincent Gentry, professor emeritus
of philosophy, died on May 11, 1979. He was 80.
Professor Gentry was born on January
19, 1899, in Center Point, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from
the University of Arizona in 1926 and a PhD from the University of Chicago
in 1931.
Professor Gentry joined the faculty
of The University of Texas at Austin in 1931 and taught until 1969.
His research fields included experimental, comparative, and physiological
psychology.
With David L. Miller, he wrote The
Philosophy of A. N. Whitehead (1938). He also published articles
in The Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology,
The American Journal of Psychology, and the Air University
School of Aviation Medicine.
