IN MEMORIAM

T. J. GIBSON III

T. J. Gibson III, associate professor emeritus of law, died on March 7, 1985. He was 67.

Professor Gibson was born on February 7, 1918, in Winnsboro, Texas. He earned his bachelor's and JD degrees from The University of Texas at Austin in 1939 and 1948, respectively.

Professor Gibson joined the faculty of the University in 1948 as an instructor and assistant librarian. Following a two-year absence to serve as state librarian, he returned to the law school, remaining there until his retirement in 1984. During his tenure of 34 years, Professor Gibson served as both assistant and associate dean for student affairs. Known by students as the "law students' friend" for his commitment to their needs, the Student Bar Association twice dedicated its annual Law Week to him. In 1984 Professor Gibson was named outstanding alumnus of the law school by the UT Law School Association.<signed>
