IN MEMORIAM
WILLIAM FRANK HELWIG
William Frank Helwig, onetime associate professor of electrical engineering, was born on October 4, 1897, in Konin, Russia. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1923 and a master's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1928.
Professor Helwig was an instructor at the University from 1925 to 1928. He resigned in 1928 to assume a faculty position at Texas Tech University. He returned to UT Austin in 1946 and taught until 1964.
Professor Helwig was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Texas Academy of Science.
