IN MEMORIAM
JAMES OSCAR "J. O." MARBERRY
James Oscar "J. O." Marberry, professor
of educational administration, died on November 25, 1944. He was 69.
Professor Marberry was born on July
2, 1875, in Samoth, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree from Ewing
College in 1908, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin
in 1916, and a PhD from the University of Chicago in 1918.
Dr. Marberry taught in public schools
in Illinois and also served as a school principal and superintendent
in that state. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin
in 1926, where he served as director of the extension teaching bureau.
Professor Marberry was a member of the
National Teachers Association and served as president of the extension
group for the Association of Texas Colleges.
