IN MEMORIAM
KENNETH E. MCINTYRE
Kenneth E. McIntyre, professor emeritus
of educational administration, died on March 20, 1996. He was 77.
Professor McIntyre was born on May 8,
1918, near Wolbach, Nebraska. He received a bachelor's degree from Hastings
College in 1940, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University
of Nebraska in 1943 and 1948, respectively.
He taught in public schools in Nebraska,
where he also served as superintendent of schools. He taught at the
University of South Dakota from 1948 to 1951, and at the University
of Tennessee in 1951-52. He joined the faculty of The University of
Texas at Austin in 1952, where he specialized in the education of public
school administrators. He oversaw the School Principalship Project from
1955 to 1968.
Professor McIntyre served on the Visitation
and Appraisal Committee of the National Council for the Accreditation
of Teacher Education. He was also chairman of the National Conference
of Professors of Educational Administration in 1962-63.
He contributed chapters to Rural
EducationA Forward Look (1955) and Professional
Administrators for America's Schools (1960). He also coauthored
In-service Education: A Guide to Better Practice (1969).
