LAUCH MCLAURIN
Lauch McLarin, professor of law, died on December
21, 1920. A memorial service was held at the law school.
Professor McLarin was born in 1854 in Simpson
County, Mississippi. He earned a bachelor's and an LLD degree
from the University of Mississippi in 1874 and 1908, respectively.
He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and entered law practice in
Mississippi in 1876. From 1883 to 1890 he served as chancellor
of the Tenth Judicial District of Mississippi.
From 1890 to 1894 he was in practice with Judge
Bookhout in Dallas. In 1894 he formed a law partnership with General
A. P. Wozencraft. Professor McLarin joined the faculty of The
University of Texas at Austin in 1908, where he taught until his
death.
In 1921 The Alcalde published two memorials
in honor of Professor McLarin.
