HENRY T. OWEN
Henry T. Owen, onetime professor of business
administration, died on August 2, 1979. He was 70.
Professor Owen was born on March 5, 1909, in
Ruston, Louisiana. He earned a bachelor's degree from Furman University
in 1929, a master's degree from Louisiana State University in
1931, and a PhD from New York University in 1942.
Dr. Owen taught at Tulane University. He joined
the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in 1951 and taught
until 1962. He specialized in insurance and statistics.
Professor Owen published Fundamentals of
Life Insurance (1951) and A Manual of Life, Accident, and
Sickness Insurance (1956).
