IN MEMORIAM
FRANK L. REED
Frank L. Reed, professor of music, was
born on July 17, 1871, in Richmond, Indiana, and died on April 10, 1938.
He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Ithaca, New York.
Professor Reed taught at the Conservatory
of Music, at the Normal School in Fremont, Nebraska, and at the Pennsylvania
College of Music. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at
Austin in 1913, where he served as chairman of the Department of Music.
Professor Reed composed symphonic and
piano works, songs, and cantatas. He served as president of the Texas
Music Teachers Association. He was a fellow of the American College
of Musicians in 1902.
