E. WAYNE THODE
E. Wayne Thode, professor of law, died on January
8, 1980, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 59.
Professor Thode was born on April 30, 1920,
in Broadlands, Illinois. He received a bachelor s degree from
the University of Illinois in 1943, an LLB from The University
of Texas at Austin in 1950, and an SJD from Harvard University
in 1964.
Professor Thode served as a law clerk with
the Supreme Court of Texas. He joined the faculty of the University
in 1955 and taught until 1967, when he assumed a position at the
University of Utah.
Professor Thode was the author of Reporter
s Notes to Code of Judicial Conduct, which is considered
a classic in the field. He also served as reporter for the American
Bar Association Special Committee on Standards of Judicial Conduct.
Tributes to Professor Thode were published
in RES GESTAE, a publication of the University of Utah
College of Law.
