IN MEMORIAM
ALEX VALLANCE
Alex Vallance, associate professor of mechanical engineering, was born on February 14, 1887, in Youngstown, Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in 1909, and a master's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1929.
Professor Vallance taught at Ohio State University and the Georgia School of Technology. He joined the faculty of UT Austin in 1921 and resigned in 1938.
Professor Vallance coauthored Principles of Mechanism (1933) and Design of Machine Members (1938, 1943, 1951, and 1964).
Professor Vallance was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Education, and the Machine Design Clearing House.
