AGESILAUS WILSON WALKER JR.
Agesilaus Wilson Walker Jr., retired professor
of law, died in 1987.
Professor Walker was born on June 10, 1901,
in Denison, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from The University
of Texas at Austin in 1921 and an LLB from the UT Austin School
of Law in 1923. He served as the first editor-in-chief of the
Texas Law Review in 1922-1923.
From 1923 to 1925 he practiced law in Dallas.
Professor Walker joined the faculty of the University in 1925.
In 1941 he was named distinguished professor. Professor Walker
resigned his position at the law school in 1948 to resume private
practice.
In 1933-1934 Professor Walker served as senior
attorney for the Petroleum Administration Board, United States
Department of the Interior. He also served as president of the
Texas Petroleum Council.
In 1968 Professor Walker was the first recipient
of the annual Dean Green Award for outstanding contributions to
the Texas State Bar.
