AMBROSE PARÉ WINSTON
Ambrose Paré Winston, professor
emeritus of economics, died on December 4, 1959. He was 92.
Professor Winston was born on October
5, 1867, in Mount Morris, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree from
the University of Wisconsin in 1887 and a PhD from Cornell University
Dr. Winston taught at the University
of Illinois, Ohio State University, Washington University of St. Louis,
and the Royal School of Finance in Peking, China. He worked with the
War Trade Board as a trade expert and with the State Department as a
specialist in Far Eastern trade and finance. He also worked on the preparations
for the Peace Conference at Versailles. Professor Winston joined The
University of Texas at Austin in 1920 and taught until 1946, when he
Professor Winston was a member of the
American Economics Association and the Harris Institution of International
Relations. He was a Fellow of the American Geographical Society.
