EUGENE WISDOM
Eugene Wisdom, associate professor of finance
and director of actuarial science, died on November 3, 1994. He
was 72.
Professor Wisdom was born on November 20,
1921, in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a bachelor s degree from
Baylor University in 1941 and a master's degree from the University
of Michigan in 1947.
Professor Wisdom worked with the Great Southern
Life Insurance Company from 1947 to 1952. He was a consulting
actuary with Rudd and Wisdom from 1952 to 1968. He joined the
faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in 1968, where he
directed the program in actuarial science. He retired in 1984.
Professor Wisdom was a fellow of the Society
of Actuaries. He served on the Committee on Discipline of the
American Academy of Actuaries. He was also the liaison for job
placement and with education committees of the Texas Life Insurance
Association and the Actuaries' Club of the Southwest.
