ANNUAL REPORT OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL
FOR 1999-2000
In accordance with the rules of the General Faculty, as
set forth in the UT Austin Handbook of Operating Procedures, the
secretary of the Faculty Council submits to the General Faculty the following
report on the work of the Faculty Council from September 1, 1999, through
August 31, 2000.
Beginning September 2000, all documents of the Faculty
Council and General Faculty, previously indexed in the Documents and Proceedings
of the Faculty Council and in the Documents and Minutes of the General
Faculty respectively, have been consolidated under one numbering system
in the Documents of the General Faculty.
Page references in this report are to the Documents of
the General Faculty, and to the Documents and Proceedings (D&P) of
the Faculty Council. The documents are to be indexed at the end of each
academic year and made available in bound volumes in the Office of the
General Faculty, the Barker Texas History Center, the Office of the President,
and the Office of the Secretary of the Board of Regents.

Transmitted to the chancellor by the president on January 20,
1999, with these comments: "This legislation was discussed
among my office, the Office of the Provost, and members of
the Faculty
Council Executive Committee. It puts into the Regents Rules what
has been the practice at The University of Texas at Austin.
Confidential consultation with a faculty committee
regarding a possible suspension is guaranteed, but the final
determination is made by the president. This process has worked
well on our campus. I recommend your favorable consideration
of the proposed change."
