ANNUAL REPORT OF THE INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS COUNCIL FOR MEN


Spring 2000 Academic Highlights

  • 15 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 for the Spring 2000 Semester.
  • 70 student-athletes achieved a semester GPA of a 3.0 or higher.
  • The Golf team had a department high 3.0 team GPA.
  • Football senior Matt Murray was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
  • All-American swimmer Bryan Jones received a full academic scholarship to UT Law School for fall 2000.

Fall 2000 Academic Highlights

  • Basketball achieved a record high team (scholarship) GPA of 2.71. Previous high was a 2.56 in the fall of 1996.
  • Tennis had a team GPA of 3.41, the highest of any team to date.
  • Ninety-seven student-athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.0 or better (34 freshmen, 25 sophomores, 15 juniors, 22 Seniors, 1 graduate school).
  • Ten student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0.

  • Football seniors Greg Brown and Kris Stockton have been nominated for NCAA post-graduate scholarships.
  • Thirty football players achieved a 3.0 or better, including eleven starters.
  • Kris Stockton was named 2nd team Academic All-American as a punter. He was 1st team All-District punter and 2nd team All-District kicker.
  • Fall semester GPA for all student-athletes was a 2.57.
