ATHLETICS COUNCIL FOR MEN
Spring 2000 Academic Highlights
-
15 student-athletes achieved a perfect
4.0 for the Spring 2000 Semester.
-
70 student-athletes achieved a semester
GPA of a 3.0 or higher.
-
The Golf team had a department high
3.0 team GPA.
-
Football senior Matt Murray was inducted
into Phi Beta Kappa.
-
All-American swimmer Bryan Jones received
a full academic scholarship to UT Law School for fall 2000.
Fall 2000 Academic Highlights
- Basketball achieved a record high team (scholarship)
GPA of 2.71. Previous high was a 2.56 in the fall of 1996.
- Tennis had a team GPA of 3.41, the highest of any
team to date.
- Ninety-seven student-athletes achieved a semester
GPA of 3.0 or better (34 freshmen, 25 sophomores, 15 juniors, 22 Seniors,
1 graduate school).
- Ten student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0.

- Football seniors Greg Brown and Kris Stockton have
been nominated for NCAA post-graduate scholarships.
- Thirty football players achieved a 3.0 or better,
including eleven starters.
- Kris Stockton was named 2nd team Academic All-American
as a punter. He was 1st team All-District punter and 2nd team All-District
kicker.
- Fall semester GPA for all student-athletes was a 2.57.
