D&P 16517-16519 Recommendation for a Change in Regents' Rules Concerning Suspension of a Faculty Member with Pay. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on December 8, 1997, and transmitted to the president on December 9, 1997. Transmitted to the chancellor by the president on January 20, 1999, with these comments: "This legislation was discussed among my office, the Office of the Provost, and members of the Faculty Council Executive Committee. It puts into the Regents' Rules what has been the practice at The University of Texas at Austin. Confidential consultation with a faculty committee regarding a possible suspension is guaranteed, but the final determination is made by the president. This process has worked well on our campus. I recommend your favorable consideration of the proposed change."

The Office of the Provost presented legislation to the Council for discussion at its meeting on November 20, 2000. Pending final approval from the president.

D 1140-1142 Proposal to Create a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Mathematics and Science. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on February 21, 2001. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on March 9, 2001. Transmitted to the president through the provost on March 12, 2001.1

D 1235-1236 Proposal to Increase Student Involvement in the Hiring Process of Tenure-Track Faculty. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on March 7, 2001. The original recommendation was presented to the Faculty Council for discussion at its meeting on February 19, 2001 (See D 1123-1124). A revised proposal (D 1189-1191) was discussed at the Council meeting on March 19, 2001, and a motion to amend the revised proposal was approved by voice vote. The Faculty Council amended and approved the proposal at its meeting on April 17, 2001. The legislation was submitted to the General Faculty on a no-protest basis on April 23, 2001. More than twenty-five protests have been received in the Office of the General Faculty. Therefore, the General Faculty will discuss and act on the proposal at its annual meeting scheduled for September 17, 2001. The time and place are to be determined.

VII. LEGISLATION UNDER REVIEW BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL.

 
 
D 1241-1242 Two-tries Policy in the College of Engineering Chapter of The Undergraduate Catalog, 2000-2002. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on April 20, 2001. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of exclusive application and primary interest to a single college or school. If no objection is filed with the Office of the General Faculty by May 4, 2001, the legislation will be held to have been approved by the Faculty Council. If objection is filed within the prescribed period, the legislation will be presented to the Faculty Council on May 7, 2001. The objection, with reasons, must be signed by a member of the Faculty Council.

D 1243 Cancellation of Summer Meetings of the Faculty Council. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on May 3, 2001. The 2000-2001 Faculty Council will act on this proposal at its meeting on May 7, 2001.

D 1244 Schedule for Meetings of the Faculty Council in 2001-2002. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on May 3, 2001. The Faculty Council will vote to approve the schedule of meetings for 2001-2002 at its meeting on May 7, 2001.

D 1245-1246 Report of the Committee to Nominate Faculty Members for Appointment to the Intercollegiate Athletics Councils for Men and for Women and to the University Co-op Board of Directors.
