On August 17, 2000, President Faulkner appointed the following
committee to prepare a memorial resolution for Frances G.
Loder, associate professor, theatre and dance: John W. Brokaw
(chair), David A. Nancarrow, Coleman A. Jennings. On September
1, 2000, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Gilbert H. Ayres,
professor emeritus, chemistry and biochemistry: Leon O. Morgan
(chair), Norman Hackerman.
On September 27, 2000, President Faulkner appointed the following
committee to prepare a memorial resolution for Archie W.
Straiton, professor emeritus, electrical and computer
engineering: Francis X. Bostick (chair), Edward J. Powers,
Baxter F. Womack.
On September 27, 2000, President Faulkner appointed the following
committee to prepare a memorial resolution for Carl W.
Morgan, professor emeritus, civil engineering: Edward
R. Holley (chair), Earnest F. Gloyna, Joseph F. Malina.

Effective October 9, 2000, Brigitte L. Bauer (French
and Italian) replaced Rachel Fouladi (educational psychology),
who resigned from the University.

Changes in Requirements for the Bachelor of
Arts Degree with a Major in Psychology in the College
of Liberal Arts Chapter of The Undergraduate
Catalog, 1998-2000, of The University of Texas
at Austin. Posted on the Faculty Council web
site on March 24, 2000. Protest filed with the secretary
of the Faculty Council on April 2, 2000. The following
was approved by Faculty Council on April 17, 2000;
transmitted to the president April 19, 2000; approved
by the president and transmitted to the executive
vice chancellor for academic affairs on August 2,
2000; approved by the executive vice chancellor
for academic affairs on August 14, 2000: Motion
1: To declare a major in psychology, the student
must have completed at least twelve semester hours
of coursework in residence and must have a University
grade point average of at least 2.50.
The following motions were tabled by voice count:
Motion 2: He or she must maintain a University
grade point average of at least 2.50 to remain in
the major. Motion 3: Students with a University
grade point average of less than 3.00 may not take
more than two organized psychology courses in a
semester. |

Concerning Suspension of a Faculty Member with Pay.
Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting
on December 8, 1997, and transmitted to the president
on December 9, 1997. Transmitted to the chancellor
by the president on January 20, 1999, with these
comments: "This legislation was discussed among
my office, the Office of the Provost, and members
of the Faculty Council Executive Committee. It puts
into the Regents Rules what has been
the practice at The University of Texas at Austin.
Confidential consultation with a faculty committee
regarding a possible suspension is guaranteed, but
the final determination is made by the president.
This process has worked well on our campus. I recommend
your favorable consideration of the proposed change."
