PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE REQUIREMENTS FOR BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS CERTIFICATION IN THE RED MCCOMBS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS CHAPTER OF THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 2000-2002

 

Dean Robert G. May of the Red McCombs School of Business filed with the secretary of the Faculty Council the following proposed changes in the requirements for Business Foundations Certification in the Red McCombs School of Business chapter of The Undergraduate Catalog, 2000-2002. The dean and the faculty of the school approved and submitted the proposed changes to the secretary on October 31, 2001. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of exclusive application and primary interest to a single college or school.

The edited proposal was received from the Office of Official Publications on November 12, 2001, and was sent to the Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review from the Office of the General Faculty on December 3, 2001. The committee forwarded the proposed changes to the Office of the General Faculty on December 14, 2001, recommending approval. The authority to grant final approval on behalf of the General Faculty resides with the Faculty Council.

If no objection is filed with the Office of the General Faculty by the date specified below, the legislation will be held to have been approved by the Faculty Council. If objection is filed within the prescribed period, the legislation will be presented to the Faculty Council at its next meeting. The objection, with reasons, must be signed by a member of the Faculty Council.

To be counted, a protest must be received in the Office of the General Faculty by February 11, 2002.

PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE REQUIREMENTS FOR BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS CERTIFICATION IN THE RED MCCOMBS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS CHAPTER OF THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 2000-2002

 

In Chapter 3, on page 43, in the section ACADEMIC POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, under the heading THE BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM, make the following changes:

BUSINESS FOUNDATIONS CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The certification requirements are

1. The following prerequisite courses:
a. Economics 304K or 304L or the equivalent.
b. Mathematics 303D or 305G or the equivalent.
2. The following courses, completed in residence:
a. Accounting 310F, or Accounting 311 and 312.
b. Management Information Systems 311F, or Management Information Systems 310 and Statistics 309.
c. Finance 320F.
d. Legal Environment of Business 320F.
e. Management 320F.
f. Marketing 320F.
3. The student must complete the eight courses listed in requirements 1 and 2 on the letter-grade basis. He or she must earn [a grade of at least C in each of the four lower-division courses and] a grade point average of at least 2.00 in [the four upper-division] these eight courses.
4. The student must complete at least two long-session semesters in residence.

Rationale: The catalog is being changed to more accurately reflect the current policy for completion of the Business Foundations Certificate.
