Parking and Traffic Policies Committee
Function: To establish traffic and parking regulations and
to review annually a system of priorities for permits to be issued
in reserved areas; To recommend to the president ways and means of
meeting parking needs of faculty, staff, and students; and To recommend
to the Faculty Council any changes in the composition and operation
of the Parking and Traffic Appeals Panel.

Ways and means of meeting parking needs of
faculty, staff, and students:
| 1. |
Developed an alternative transportation
program to include carpools, vanpools, bicycles, and pedestrian
travel to/from and around the campus at UT Austin. |
| 2. |
Continued the building and maintenance
of the garages on the periphery of campus to replace loss
of parking spaces on the forty acres due to building construction. |
| 3. |
Enhanced the inner-campus shuttle service
to meet the changing needs of faculty, staff, and students. |
| 4. |
Improved oversight of special event
parking to better serve the UT community. |
| 5. |
Improved service to constructors and
vendors. |
| 6. |
Improved parking and safety at Child
Care Center. |
| 7. |
Changed closure of day parking from
4 P.M. to 5:45 P.M. to accommodate
paid parkers. |
| 8. |
Reduced traffic on Speedway. |
| 9. |
Established a bicycle subcommittee to
study and encourage alternative transit to/from and around
campus. |

Establish traffic and parking regulations and

Updated the rules and regulations to
meet the changing needs of faculty, staff, and students. |

Developed an online renewal system for
permit holders. |

Inventoried service zones, loading docks,
and UT vehicle parking. |

Lowered garage parking rates in the
evening. |
| 5. |
Increased parking rates to meet the
needs of the UT community. |

Revamped the parking enforcement division
to enforce changes, train parking attendants, and greet
visitors. |

Recommend to the Faculty Council any
changes in the composition and operation of the Parking and
Traffic Appeals Panel:
Parking and Transportation Services met with the Parking and
Traffic Appeals Panel to improve efficiency.
