On May 2, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Mary Perry Taylor, retired
associate professor, art and art history: Nancy Schuller (chair),
Rebecca Brooks, Lee Chesney, and Jarvis Ulbricht.
On May 10, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Mohammad Ali Jazayery,
professor emeritus, Middle Eastern languages and cultures: M. R. Ghanoonparvar
(chair), Ian R. Manners, and Hafez Farmayan.
On May 21, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Auline R. Schrank, professor
emeritus, biological sciences: Austin Gleeson (chair), H. Eldon Sutton,
and Fritz de Wette.
On June 4, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Robert Neill Megaw, professor
emeritus, English: James D. Garrison (chair), Joseph J. Moldenhauer,
and James N. Loehlin.
On June 5, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Robert Graves Brown, associate
professor emeritus, pharmacy: Jaime Delgado (chair), James McGinity,

On June 5, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Irwin C. Lieb, vice president
and dean, philosophy: Herb Hochberg (chair), Edwin B. Allaire, and

On June 14, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Robbin C. Anderson, professor,

On June 14, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Paul Olum, dean and professor,

On July 12, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Martin Thomas Todaro,
professor emeritus, speech communication: Robert Risher (chair), Thomas

On July 17, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Janice M. Beyer, professor,
management: Johnny Butler (chair), Victor Arnold, and George Huber.
On August 30, 2001, President Faulkner appointed the following committee
to prepare a memorial resolution for Candace S. Bos, professor,

Effective July 1, 2001, Donald A. Hale became Vice President for
Public Affairs.
Effective August 1, 2001, Donald G. Davis Jr. (interim dean, library
and information science) replaced Roberta Shaffer.
Effective August 1, 2001, Frederick R. Steiner (dean, architecture)
replaced Lawrence W. Speck.
Effective September 1, 2001, Lesley Dean-Jones (classics) replaced
Shelley F. Fishkin (American studies) who resigned from the Faculty
Council.
Effective September 1, 2001, Omer R. Galle (sociology) replaced Desley
A. Deacon (women's studies) who resigned from the University.

by the president through the provost, and transmitted
to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs
on February 6, 2001. Approved by the chancellor in
spring 2001. The Coordinating Board was to act on
the legislation at its meeting on July 19-20, 2001.
The president's office is currently attempting to
determine the final decision of the Coordinating Board.

Regents' Rules Concerning Suspension of a Faculty
Member with Pay. Approved by the Faculty Council
at its meeting on December 8, 1997, and transmitted
to the president on December 9, 1997. Transmitted
to the chancellor by the president on January 20,
1999, with these comments: "This legislation was discussed
among my office, the Office of the Provost, and members
of the Faculty Council Executive Committee. It puts
into the Regents' Rules what has been the practice
at The University of Texas at Austin. Confidential
consultation with a faculty committee regarding a
possible suspension is guaranteed, but the final determination
is made by the president. This process has worked
well on our campus. I recommend your favorable consideration
of the proposed change." The president's office is
currently attempting to determine the status of this
item.

and Restructured Faculty Workload upon the Birth or
Adoption of a Child. Posted on the Faculty Council
web site on November 16, 2000. The Office of the Provost
presented proposed administrative policy to the Council
for discussion at its meeting on November 20, 2000.2

chancellor and general counsel on August 22, 2001.

on April 20, 2001 as no-protest legislation. The secretary
classified this proposal as legislation of exclusive
application and primary interest to a single college
or school. Objection with reason was filed with the
Office of the General Faculty on May 4, 2001. The
secretary classified the proposal as emergency legislation.
It was amended and approved by the Faculty Council
on May 7, 2001, and transmitted to the president through
the provost on May 9, 2001. Approved by the president
through the provost and transmitted to the executive
vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 15, 2001.
The president's office has inquired about the status
of this proposal.
