Michael H. Granof, chair of the Faculty Council,
has submitted the following resolution endorsing "The Texas
Compact: Local Control of Tuition and Tuition Assistance Plan" from
the University of Texas System. The secretary has classified
this as general legislation. It will be presented to the Faculty
Council for action at its meeting on March 17, 2003.

THE TEXAS COMPACT: LOCAL CONTROL OF
TUITION AND TUITION ASSISTANCE PLAN
The University of Texas Faculty Council endorses "The
Texas Compact: Local Control of Tuition and Tuition Assistance
Plan" as proposed by The University of Texas System. It
does so with the understanding that a portion of any additional
tuition revenue will be directed to providing the funds necessary
to ensure that no Texas student will be denied an opportunity
to attend The University of Texas because of inadequate financial
resources. 1
