C-1 Admissions and Registration Committee

The committee, while keeping informed and providing advice on the University’s plans to control enrollments for fall 2003, proposed in response to a new requirement in the SAT a change to the requirements for the admission of freshmen to the University.

The SAT I, beginning in spring 2005, will include a writing section. The ACT, which the University also accepts for admission, will be adding an optional writing section. The Admissions and Registration Committee, in a meeting on November 25, voted that those seeking admission to the University as freshmen and submitting ACT scores must also submit the score from the optional writing section. This change in the admissions requirement would become effective for those seeking admission as freshmen in the fall semester of 2006. The administration accepted this proposal.
