The Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics (COIA),
A Framework for Comprehensive Athletics Reform. Posted
on the Faculty Council Web site on November 5, 2003. A
resolution endorsing the Framework for Comprehensive Athletics
Reform (D
2791) was approved by the Council on December
8, 2003. Transmitted to the president on December 10, 2003,
for his review and consideration of Motion 2, which states "The
Faculty Council authorizes the Faculty Council Executive
Committee to appoint, with the approval of the Faculty
Council, a representative to the Coalition on Intercollegiate
Athletics (COIA) and urges the University administration
to reimburse the representative for the costs of attending
COIA meetings."
Approved
by the president on January 7, 2004, with the following comment:
"I
am in agreement with the action taken by the Faculty Council
and accept the appointment of Michael Granof as UT Austin’s
representative on the COIA. The Office of the President will
support his travel.”
