RATIONALE:
There are three options currently available to students in the BFA Theatre Studies
program. The first two options (A & B) provide for secondary certifications. The
third option (C) offers the curriculum necessary to provide students with an “All-level” teaching
certification (Pre-K-12).
In the future, the state of Texas will only be offering an all-level (Pre-K-12)
teaching certification option.

Secondary certification will no longer be available. As a result, the Theatre
Studies faculty is requesting that we remove options A & B from the Theatre
Studies major program. This change also aligns the Theatre Studies degree with
the Visual Arts Studies and the Music Studies degrees.
