B-3 Committee on Student Affairs The committee was comprised of the following members: James Deitrick, chair, Recreational Sports Committee; professor, accounting John Hasenbein, chair, Calendar Committee; associate professor, mechanical engineering Zena Moore, chair, Recruitment and Retention Committee; associate professor, curriculum and instruction Elizabeth Pomeroy, chair, Committee on Financial Aid to Students; associate professor, social work Megan Seaholm, lecturer, history James Sidbury, associate professor, history Audrey Sorrells, chair, Admissions and Registration Committee; associate professor, special education Faculty Council Appointees: Peter Antoniewicz, professor, physics Alba Ortiz, professor, special education Student Appointees:  Sarah Pratt, Student Government representative Jose Vela, Student Government representative Ex Officio:  Teresa Graham Brett, dean of students Juan Gonzalez, vice president for student affairs Function of the Committee: To advise the vice president for student affairs on all functions of the office. The committee gathered or otherwise communicated three times during the academic year. November 18, 2005 No quorum was present, but there was general discussion. December 9, 2005 A quorum was present and a chair (James Deitrick) and vice chair (Megan Seaholm) were elected. The committee heard from Dr. Juan Gonzalez, vice president for student affairs, about possible issues or topics for the committee to consider: Strategic Plans (last done in 1983) A possible new Student Activities Center Review Student Services Budget Committee decisions Consider Asian American students concerns regarding aid and a facility for meeting Ways to expand involvement in FIGs (freshmen interest groups).
