Function of the Committee: To advise the vice president
for student affairs on all functions of the office.
The committee gathered or otherwise communicated three times during
the academic year.
November 18, 2005No quorum was present, but there was general discussion.
December 9, 2005A quorum was present and a chair (James Deitrick) and vice chair (Megan
Seaholm) were elected.
The committee heard from Dr. Juan Gonzalez, vice president for student
affairs, about possible issues or topics for the committee to consider:
- Strategic Plans (last done in 1983)
- A possible new Student Activities Center
- Review Student Services Budget Committee decisions
- Consider Asian American students concerns regarding aid and a
facility for meeting
- Ways to expand involvement in FIGs (freshmen interest groups).
Students in FIGs seem to do better academically
- Participate in the credit by examination debate
