DOCUMENTS OF THE GENERAL FACULTY

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL FOR 2006-2007

In accordance with the rules of the General Faculty, as set forth in the UT Austin Handbook of Operating Procedures, the secretary of the Faculty Council submits to the General Faculty the following report on the work of the Faculty Council from September 1, 2006, through August 31, 2007.

Beginning September 2000, all documents of the Faculty Council and General Faculty, previously indexed in the Documents and Proceedings of the Faculty Council and in the Documents and Minutes of the General Faculty respectively, have been consolidated under one numbering system in the Documents of the General Faculty.

Page references in this report are to the Documents of the General Faculty. The documents are to be indexed at the end of each academic year and made available in bound volumes in the Office of the General Faculty, and the Barker Texas History Center.

I.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL.

For the academic year 2005-2006, the Faculty Council consisted of 111 members, classified as shown below.

II.
MEETINGS.

There were nine regular meetings in 2006-2007, and one special meeting on May 16, 2007. The June 18 meeting was cancelled because of concern that a number of Council members would not be able to attend.  Since the purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for dialogue between Council members and the president on University priorities and other shared interests, it was determined that it would be better to put off the dialogue until the September meeting, which often has a light business agenda. The regular meetings of the Faculty Council in July and August were cancelled due to the limited nature of business in the summer.
