BEVERLY NANCE
Beverly Nance, professor emeritus of mathematics, died on May 13, 2007. He was 92.
Professor Nance received his B.S. and M.A. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1936 and 1937, respectively. Following receipt of his M.A., he began teaching at UT as an instructor. In 1942, Professor Nance joined the army and was granted a leave of absence by the Board of Regents. He returned to UT in 1946 where he remained until his retirement in 1970, save one year (1950-51) he spent at Oregon State College.
In addition to teaching courses in applied mathematics, Professor Nance, also taught classes in astronomy. Following his retirement, the Department of Mathematics unanimously voted that Professor Nance be named professor emeritus on October 6, 1970.
