Josephine Peters Wortham, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, died on February 8, 2006. She was 95.
Professor Wortham attended Abilene Christian College and received a B.A. in elementary education in 1934. After several years teaching in the public school system in both Texas and Missouri, she received a master’s degree from The University of Texas in 1950. She began working at UT in 1968 as an assistant professor, and in that capacity she supervised student teachers, coordinated elementary supervisors, and taught methods courses in social studies and language arts. She retired from UT in 1975.
Her husband, Dr. Frank Wortham, preceded her in death in 1977. She is survived by many nephews and nieces.
