VII. REPORTS OF THE GENERAL FACULTY, COLLEGES, SCHOOLS, AND COMMITTEES.

B. Reports from the General Faculty Standing Committees.

1. Committee of Counsel on Academic Freedom and Responsibility.
Professor Tessie Jo Moon (mechanical engineering and committee chair) provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix D.

2. Faculty Advisory Committee on Budgets.
Professor Patricia A. Stout (advertising and committee chair) provided a written report summarizing her presentation to the Council. See Appendix E.

3. Faculty Welfare Committee.
Professor Miguel Ferguson (social work and committee chair) reported that the committee has been compiling all the recent information that had been gathered to determine important issues regarding faculty well-being. From this information, the committee will be identifying gaps in the available data, regarding such issues as sabbaticals, tuition credits for children of faculty, same-sex partner benefits, recreational opportunities and costs, childcare availability, etc. The committee hopes to develop a survey instrument to gather information on these areas where little information exists. He said the committee is currently researching policies from peer institutions on the issue of same-sex partner benefits.

4. General Faculty Rules Committee.
Professor John R. Allison (information, risk, and operations management and committee chair) provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix F.

5. University Academic Calendar Committee.
Professor John R. Allison (committee chair) provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix G.

6. University of Texas Press Advisory Committee.
Professor Carol MacKay (English and committee vice chair) presented on behalf of Professor Judith Jellison (music and committee chair) who provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix H.

7. Commencement and Academic Ceremonies Committee.
Professor Yolanda C. Padilla (social work and committee chair) provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix I.

8. Parking and Traffic Appeals Panel.
Professor Thomas Milner (biomedical engineering and committee chair) provided a written report summarizing his presentation to the Council. See Appendix J.
