CHANGES TO THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN
ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING
IN THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING CHAPTER OF
THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 2008-2010


Dean Ben Streetman of the Cockrell School of Engineering has filed with the secretary of the Faculty Council the following changes to the Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2008-2010. The faculty of the college approved the changes on April 23, 2007, and the dean approved the changes on September 10, 2007. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of exclusive interest to a single college or school.

The Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review recommended approval of the change on October 24, 2007, and forwarded the proposed changes to the Office of the General Faculty. The Faculty Council has the authority to approve this legislation on behalf of the General Faculty. The authority to grant final approval on this legislation resides with the Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.

If no objection is filed with the Office of the General Faculty by the date specified below, the legislation will be held to have been approved by the Faculty Council. If an objection is filed within the prescribed period, the legislation will be presented to the Faculty Council at its next meeting. The objection, with reasons, must be signed by a member of the Faculty Council.

To be counted, a protest must be received in the Office of the General Faculty by noon on November 5, 2007.

EXPLAIN CHANGE(S) TO DEGREE PROGRAM:
Editorial changes affecting ECE Department, only.

Indicate pages in the Undergraduate Catalog where changes will be made. Changes include: 1) add "Program Outcomes" on p. 165, 2) correct typographical errors and slight modifications to EE and CompE curriculum segment titles on p. 166, 3) change elective applicability of EE 325L Cooperative Engineering and the description of the applicable upper division electives. In addition, some changes were made to approved elective courses listed under elective sequences in the Technical Area lists of pages 167-171.

The elective course lists are routinely updated to accommodate new courses and changes in the state of the art in various ECE sub-disciplines while keeping a balance between ECE and non-ECE courses in the lists.
