Transmitted to the president on January 23, 2007. On March 8, 2007, the president referred the legislation to the provost for review and recommendations. On July 2, 2007, Provost Leslie sent a letter to the president recommending approval. In a letter to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs dated December 14, 2007, President Powers requested approval of the proposal.

In a letter dated December 18, 2007, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board indicated that the changes were not compliant with the Texas Core Curriculum. Therefore, Undergraduate Studies Dean Paul Woodruff is working with the Coordinating Board to make the necessary changes to bring the program into compliance. Final approval received from the Coordinating Board on February 20, 2008. However, on February 11, 2009, it was determined by the provost’s office that the letter dated February 20, 2008 was referring to D 4686-4710. Final approval received per message from the provost's office on March 24, 2009:
As an academic change, UT System approval is sufficient. They raised the issue of Core compliance to notify UT of a possible problem. Cale McDowell replied relating that we were in compliance. In any case, as stated in The December 18th letter (attached) THECB, "changes in curriculum do not require approval from the Coordinating Board." D 5712-5717 is a curriculum change.
This legislation was classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school and was posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 10, 2008. It was approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on January 24, 2008, and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 25, 2008. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 15, 2008. On September 9, 2008, approved by the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Following return of the proposal by the THECB on November 24, 2008, a revised version was resubmitted on April 3, 2009. Final approval received from the THECB on May 22, 2009.

This legislation was classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school and was posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 10, 2008. It was approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on January 24, 2008, and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 25, 2008. On June 16, 2009, the proposal was withdrawn by Dean Diehl, College of Liberal Arts.

In a letter dated May 20, 2008, President Powers asked Provost Leslie for "written recommendation regarding this legislation." In a letter dated, August 18, 2008, Provost Leslie recommended this legislation stating it, "will provide undergraduates clear documentation for certificates being received..." and that it, "provides clear criteria for certificate recognition...and ensure the academic rigor of existing and proposed certificate programs." In a letter dated October 23, 2008, to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, President Powers recommended approval of this legislation. In a letter dated October 29, 2008, to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the associate vice chancellor for academic planning and assessment approved the legislation.

On May 13, 2009, the provost returned the proposal requesting that the course “Clinical Skills – Institutional” be changed from a two-hour summer course to a three-hour course in order to bring the number of hours for the second professional year summer session into compliance with what the Graduate School deems full-time. The changes were made and transmitted to the provost on May 14, 2009. Approved by the provost and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs for final approval on June 2, 2009. Approved by the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 17, 2009.

On May 20, 2008, President Powers appointed Diana M. DiNitto (professor, social work) to serve on the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Men, Barbara W. White (dean, social work) to serve on the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Women, and Minette E. Drumwright (associate professor, advertising) to serve on the University Co-op Board of Directors. Each new member will serve a four-year term from September 1, 2009, through August 31, 2013.

Buckley (associate professor, sociology); and Faculty Welfare Committee: Andrea C. Gore (professor, pharmacy). These four Faculty Council members will also serve on the 2009-2010 Executive Committee together with the chair of the Council (Janet Staiger), the past chair of the Council (David Hillis), the secretary of the Faculty Council (Sue A.
