MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF
October 27, 2008

VIII. NEW BUSINESS.

A. Proposal from the Educational Policy Committee Regarding Minimum Score Requirements Earned from Credit by Exam Tests (D 6464-6465).

Chair Hillis announced that the Faculty Council Executive Committee had decided that routine legislation should be introduced and acted upon at one Council meeting rather than delaying the vote on the legislation until the following meeting. He said this was being done to improve efficiency and minimize redundancy, and the expedited process would be followed unless the item under consideration was of major importance or was expected to be controversial; in addition, the vote on a piece of legislation could be delayed until the following month if a motion to table the legislation until the next meeting were introduced and approved by the Council.

Professor Lawrence Abraham (kinesiology and health education and chair of the Educational Policy Committee) presented the proposal regarding minimum score requirements earned from credit by examination. He said the motion would add the following statement to the Undergraduate Catalog: “Academic programs may accept minimum scores earned on credit by exam tests to satisfy designated course prerequisites.” In addition, the motion would allow the necessary changes in the registration process for the policy change to be implemented. Since there was no discussion or questions, the question was called; the proposed motion was unanimously approved by voice vote.
