ITEMS COMPLETED SINCE THE LAST REPORT.

D 6128-6130 Proposed Policies on the Recognition of Undergraduate Academic Certificate Programs on Official University Transcripts. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on March 5, 2008. Initially presented to the Faculty Council for discussion on March 24, 2008. Amended and approved by the Council at its meeting on April 14, 2008. Transmitted to the president on April 16, 2008. In a letter dated May 20, 2008, President Powers asked Provost Leslie for “written recommendation regarding this legislation.” In a letter dated, August 18, 2008, Provost Leslie recommended this legislation stating it “will provide undergraduates clear documentation for certificates being received...” and that it “provides clear criteria for certificate recognition...and ensure the academic rigor of existing and proposed certificate programs.” In a letter dated October 23, 2008, to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, President Powers recommended approval of this legislation. In a letter dated October 29, 2008, to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the associate vice chancellor for academic planning and assessment approved the legislation.
