Proposal to Revise the Membership and Election of Faculty to the Faculty Council Executive Committee (D 7788-7789).
Professor Alan Friedman (English and Faculty Rules and Governance Committee member) presented the proposal on behalf of Chair Hillary Hart (architectural and environmental engineering) who was unable to attend. He said the proposed change would modify the composition of the Faculty Council Executive Committee by replacing the elected Council representatives to three establish committees (Educational Policy Committee, Faculty Budget Advisory Committee, and Faculty Welfare Committee) with three representatives from the Council that are elected at-large. He summarized some of the reasons included in the proposal and said the committee thought this change would result in “greater openness and probably greater participation in the election process that produces the FCEC on the part of Faculty Council members.”
Chair Staiger asked for and received a second to the motion and asked if there was any discussion. There being none, the vote was called, and the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
