MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF March 22, 2010
V.	REPORT OF THE CHAIR ELECT. Chair Elect Neikirk thanked President Powers and Provost Leslie for participating in the joint meeting of the Faculty Council with the Texas A&M Senate in College Station on March 1. He said the parallel breakout sessions on budgetary issues, faculty governance, and athletics attracted interest among the faculty members from both institutions. He also said the two flagship institutions, although different in many ways, shared common priorities that could be facilitated by working together, such as emphasizing their economic contributions to the citizens of Texas, seeking funding priorities and mechanism that foster research productivity, etc. Professor Neikirk encouraged continuing Council members to attend next year’s meeting, which will be held here in Austin.
