MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF
April 12, 2010
VI. UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Chair Staiger introduced the unfinished business by noting that the Faculty Council had not officially approved the School of Undergraduate Studies; however, she said it was important that the Council was participating in the creation of the governance process for the new school. She said she hoped everyone had reviewed the document and were satisfied with the structure and procedures being proposed. If there were questions, it was important that they be raised.
At this point, Executive Vice Provost Monti said he thought there were very important legislative matters to be considered, and he asked if a quorum were present. Voting members were asked to hold up their hands with a resulting count falling well short of the thirty-nine needed for a quorum. Executive Vice Provost Monti said this meant the meeting should be adjourned; Chair Staiger said it meant the meeting could continue as an informal discussion, but no votes could occur. The parliamentarian was not present to render an opinion. In view of the dispute, the secretary decided that the meeting was officially adjourned, and official minutes would not be included for the discussion that followed.
