Posted on the Faculty Council web site on November 24, 2009, and classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. On December 4, 2009, approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president. D 7788-7789 Proposal to Revise the Membership and Election of Faculty to the Faculty Council Executive Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 20, 2010, and classified as general legislation.Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on January 25, 2010.
Transmitted to the president on January 26, 2010. In a letter dated January 28, 2010, written recommendations regarding the legislation were requested from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. Approval was recommended by both Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf, and on March 10, 2010, final approval was received from the president’s office.

D 7790 Proposal to Create a Student Life and Activities Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 20, 2010, and classified as general legislation, which will be voted on by the Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the president on January 26, 2010. In a memorandum dated January 28, 2010, written recommendations regarding the legislation were requested from Provost Leslie, Vice President González, Mr. DeLoss Dodds, and Ms. Chris Plonsky. Approval was recommended by Provost Leslie, and on March 10, 2010, final approval was received from the president’s office.

D 7847-7849 Resolution to Raise the Minimum Student Academic Employee Salaries to a Standard Consistent with a Living Wage for Austin, Texas. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on February 9, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the president on February 16, 2010. President Powers acknowledged receipt of the resolution in a letter dated March 3, 2010, stating

“I appreciate the Council’s desire for graduate student compensation to be competitive and to meet or exceed estimates for Austin’s living wage, while not compromising the teaching and research mission of the University.”
