ITEMS COMPLETED SINCE THE LAST REPORT.

D 5986-5988 Addition of a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Global Studies Degree and Honors Program in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2008-2010. This legislation was classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school and was posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 10, 2008. It was approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on January 24, 2008, and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 25, 2008. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 15, 2008. On September 9, 2008, approved by the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Following return of the proposal by the THECB on November 24, 2008, a revised version was resubmitted on April 3, 2009. Final approval received from the THECB on May 22, 2009

D 5989-5993 Creation of the Bachelor of Science in Geography and the Environment and of the Departmental Honors Program in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2008-2010. This legislation was classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school and was posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 10, 2008. It was approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on January 24, 2008, and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 25, 2008. On June 16, 2009, Dean Diehl, College of Liberal Arts, withdrew the proposal.

D 6805-6812 Proposed Changes to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program in the College of Pharmacy Chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2010-2012. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on January 15, 2009. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on January 23, 2009. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 27, 2009. On May 13, 2009, the provost returned the proposal requesting that the course “Clinical Skills – Institutional” be changed from a two-hour summer course to a three-hour course in order to bring the number of hours for the second professional year summer session into compliance with what the Graduate School deems full-time. The changes were made and transmitted to the provost on May 14, 2009. Approved by the provost and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs for final approval on June 2, 2009. Approved by the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 17, 2009.

D 6967-6968 Proposal to Authorize One and Two-hour Course Flags. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on March 31, 2009. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on April 13, 2009. Transmitted to the president on April 14, 2009. Backed out and retransmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 15, 2009. Final approval received from the president on April 15, 2009. No further action is required.

D 6997-6999 Proposed Addition of the Scientific Computation Certificate and Request for Recognition on the University Transcript. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on April 1, 2009. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on April 27, 2009. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 28, 2009.Approved by the provost and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs for approval on May 8, 2009. Final approval from the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and a letter of notification was sent to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board of May 8, 2009.

D 7124-7128 Report of the Committee to Nominate Faculty Council Officers for 2009-2010. Posted on the Faculty Council web site on May 7, 2009. At its meeting on May 11, 2009, the Faculty Council elected the following officers to serve on the Faculty Council Executive Committee for 2009-2010: Dean P. Neikirk, chair elect (professor,electrical and computer engineering); Faculty Advisory Committee on Budgets: Thomas G. Palaima (professor, classics); Educational Policy Committee: Cynthia J. Buckley (associate professor, sociology); and Faculty Welfare Committee: Andrea C. Gore (professor, pharmacy). These four Faculty Council members will also serve on the 2009-2010 Executive Committee together with the chair of the Council (Janet Staiger), the past chair of the Council (David Hillis), the secretary of the Faculty Council (Sue A. Greninger), and the chair of the Graduate Assembly (Paula C. Murray).
