THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 2010-2012

NAME OF DEGREE PROGRAM(S): Bachelor of Arts with a major in Russian Language and Culture

EXPLAIN CHANGE(S) TO DEGREE PROGRAM:
Remove the restriction “and eighteen hours chosen from the following four areas” from the major requirement.

Indicate pages in the undergraduate catalog where changes will be made. page 328

GIVE A DETAILED RATIONALE FOR CHANGE(S):
The major requirements currently state that students must choose all coursework from four areas and specifies the courses in each category. We will continue to require our students to complete at least one course from each of the four areas. The current catalog language excludes several upper-division courses from being used toward the six hours of electives allowed within the major. Removing the restriction will correct this situation and will improve the major experience by adding more flexibility to course selection.

Does this proposal impact other colleges/schools? If yes, then how? No.
