PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PARLIAMENTARIAN OF THE GENERAL FACULTY IN THE
HANDBOOK OF OPERATING PROCEDURES

Professor Janet Staiger (radio-television-film and committee chair) submitted the following proposal on behalf of the Faculty Rules and Governance Committee recommending changes to the description of the Parliamentarian of the General Faculty and the Faculty Council. The secretary has classified this as general legislation; it will be presented to the Faculty Council for a vote at its meeting on December 6, 2010. Final approval of this legislation resides with the president of the University, and upon approval an informational copy will be transmitted to UT System.

Rationale for change:
To correct the discrepancy in the description of the General Faculty and the Faculty Council parliamentarian as described in Chapter 1 of the Rules and Regulations and to set the dates and appointment procedures for the position.
