MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF
November 15, 2010

VIII. NEW BUSINESS.

B. Proposed Change to the Handbook of Operating Procedures Regarding the Systems Faculty Advisory Council Representatives from UT Austin (D 8459).

Professor Staiger explained the HOP Chapter 1, Section 3, Part D stipulates that the UT Austin representatives to The University of Texas’ Systems Faculty Advisory Committee (SYSFAC) meetings are the current and past chairs of the Faculty Council. A few years ago, the out-going chair, Professor Doug Burger, went on leave from the University, and Chair Elect Staiger attended the SYSFAC meetings in his place. Professor Staiger said the experience had been very useful to her in learning about SYSFAC activities so the practice of having the chair and the chair elect continue to represent UT Austin had been informally continued. She said the Faculty Rules and Governance Committee was proposing that this change of representation be formalized into the HOP. Chair Neikirk asked if there were questions or a need for discussion. Since there was none, he called for the vote, and the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
