Posted on the Faculty Council website on November 10, 2009, and classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. On November 20, 2009, approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president. Approved by the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on December 14, 2009. Approved by the chancellor for academic planning and assessment and transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on January 11, 2010. Final approval received from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on May 4, 2010.

Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 9, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the president on February 16, 2010. In a letter dated February 18 2010, written recommendation regarding the legislation was requested from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On September 3, 2010, final approval was received from the president.

D 7859-7861 Additional Update to the Core Curriculum Course Lists for the Undergraduate Catalog, 2010-2012. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 10, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on February 16, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on July 6, 2010. Approved by the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on July 13, 2010. Final approval received from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on August 19, 2010.

D 7982-7983a School of Undergraduate Studies Governance Procedures. Posted on the Faculty Council website on March 17. 2010. The secretary has classified this proposal as major legislation. It was presented to the Faculty Council at its meeting on March 22, 2010. Due to a lack of quorum at the April 12, 2010, meeting, the vote on the legislation was postponed until May 10, 2010. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on May 10, 2010. Approved by the General Faculty on a no-protest basis on May 25, 2010. Transmitted to the president on May 27, 2010, with a minor amendment in response to a protest filed from a General Faculty member:
Each spring the Faculty Council will solicit nominations, including self-nominations, of the General Faculty for membership on UGSAC. [No nominations will be accepted from the four schools and colleges represented by continuing elected members.] Faculty from the four schools and colleges currently represented by continuing elected members are not eligible to be nominated.

Rationale: It seems unreasonable to bar faculty from those ineligible colleges from nominating eligible colleagues.

On June 1, 2010, the president requested a written recommendation from the provost regarding this legislation. Provost Leslie responded to the president on June 15, 2010, recommending approval. Final approval was received from the president on June 16, 2010. On June 18, 2010, School of Undergraduate Studies Dean Paul Woodruff wrote to the president in support of the legislation.

D 7987-7999 Proposed Changes to Doctor of Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy Chapter of the Undergraduate Catalog, 2010-2012. Posted on the Faculty Council website on March 3, 2010, and classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. On April 9, 2010, the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis approved the legislation. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 12, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on April 19, 2010. Approved by the associate vice chancellor for academic planning and assessment on May 24, 2010, and transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on June 4, 2010. Final approval rests with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. On July 13, 2010, notice was received from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board that they would update their Program Inventory to reflect the change in the program’s semester credit hours.

D 8000-8002 Addition of the ALEKS Exam Requirement in the College of Natural Sciences Chapter in the General Information Catalog, 2010-2011. Posted on the Faculty Council website on March 3, 2010, and classified as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. On April 9, 2010, the legislation was approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 12, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on April 19, 2010. Final approval resides with the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, which was received on May 12, 2010.

D 8003 Resolution from the Faculty Council Executive Committee in Support of the Cactus Café. Posted on the Faculty Council website on March 31, 2010. The secretary has classified this proposal as general legislation. Due to a lack of quorum at the April 12, 2010, meeting, the vote on the legislation was postponed until May 10, 2010. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on May 10, 2010. Transmitted to the president for his information and comment. No further action is required.

D 8004-8005 Proposal to Modify the Criteria for the Global Cultures Flag. Posted on the Faculty Council website on March 31, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Due to a lack of quorum at the meeting on April 12, 2010, the vote on the legislation was presented to the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis and approved on April 26, 2010. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 27, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on April 29, 2010. Final approval received from the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on May 24, 2010.

Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 27, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president on June 21, 2010. Final approval received from the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 28, 2010. Notification of receipt received from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on August 19, 2010.

D 8060-8062 Proposed Changes to the Legal Research and Writing Curriculum in the Law School Catalog, 2010-2012. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 12, 2010, and classified as legislation of exclusive interest to only one college or school. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on April 19, 2010. Transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 20, 2010. Approved by the provost on behalf of the president and transmitted to the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on April 22, 2010. Final approval resides with the executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, which was received on May 10, 2010.

D 8076-8077 Report of the Committee to Nominate Faculty Members for Appointment to the Intercollegiate Athletics Councils for Men and for Women. Posted on the Faculty Council website on May 5. 2010. The secretary has classified this proposal as general legislation. Due to time constraints at the Faculty Council meeting on May 10, 2010, the Council voted to consider the nominations for appointment to the Intercollegiate Athletics Council on a no-protest basis. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on May 25, 2010. Transmitted to the president on May 26, 2010. On June 4, 2010, President Powers appointed Dr. Edmund T. Gordon (director, African and African Diaspora studies) to serve on the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Men and Tasha S. Philpot (associate professor, government) to serve on the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Women. Each new member will serve a four-year term from September 1, 2010, through August 31, 2014.

D 8080 Motion to Change the Composition of the C-12 Responsibilities, Rights, and Welfare of Graduate Student Academic Employees Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 28. 2010. The secretary has classified this proposal as general legislation. Due to time constraints at the Faculty Council meeting on May 10, 2010, the Council voted to consider this motion on a no-protest basis. Approved by the Faculty Council on a no-protest basis on May 25, 2010. Transmitted to the president on May 26, 2010. On May 27, 2010, the president's office requested a written recommendation from the provost regarding this legislation. On June 30, 2010, Provost Leslie recommended approval. On July 14, 2010, the legislation received final approval from the president.
