Posted on the Faculty Council website on August 30, 2011. The Secretary has classified this as major legislation. It was approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on September 19, 2011. The General Faculty approved the legislation on a no-protest basis on October 5, 2011. It was transmitted to the president on October 7, 2011. In a letter dated October 13, 2011, the president’s office requested written recommendations regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On December 16, 2011, Provost Leslie responded with his recommendation for approval. On February 24, 2012, President Powers transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. This proposal replaces D 8624-8628, which was withdrawn. Final approval resides with UT System. Also see D 9007 Notice of No-Protest Procedure.

On June 20, 2012, the legislation was returned to the Faculty Council having been reviewed and returned by UT System with several concerns. These are summarized in the attachment to the letter from the president's office. The Faculty Council Executive Committee and the Faculty Rules and Governance Committee have been asked to reconsider the proposal in light of Mr. Sharpton's comments.

On March 21, 2012, the president notified the secretary that Professor Steven Goode had been appointed to serve on the Co-op Board of Directors for a four-year term beginning September 1, 2012, and lasting through August 31, 2016. On April 10, 2012, the president notified the secretary that Professor Kevin Foster (educational administration) had been appointed to serve on the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Women, and that Professor Ben Carrington (sociology) had been appointed to the Intercollegiate Athletics Council for Men; both faculty members have been appointed to serve a four-year term beginning September 1, 2012 and lasting through August 31, 2016.
